The base system is Debian, so apt gives you the regular Debian packages.
What apt gives you
The packages in the V\OS repository are listed on packages.v-os.dev.
The BeOS/Haiku side of things
The Vitruvian desktop itself is built from BeOS/Haiku-compatible kits; that’s the layer installed by the image. BeOS/Haiku applications, preflets, and replicants run on top of it. The relationship between the two worlds:
- The desktop layer (Deskbar, Tracker, servers, BeOS-compatible kits) comes from the V\OS repository.
- Everything else comes from the Debian archive.
Both arrive through apt.
What’s still on the way
One thing worth knowing so you don’t go looking:
- GTK and Qt ports exist in the project but have not been integrated into the image yet. When they land, graphical GTK/Qt Linux applications will run alongside the BeOS-style ones.
