On a live image, first boot drops you into the language picker and a Try / Install screen. Pick your language and keyboard layout, and the choice carries into an install.

After installing, you get the login screen. The installer has an automatic login option if you’d rather go straight to the desktop. A raw image can skip the installer entirely: you set up your user in place on first boot.

What you should see

The desktop loads automatically. Give it a moment: on modern hardware most systems reach the desktop within a minute. If it doesn’t come up, check the console for error output. The machine may be dropping you to a recovery shell.

What you’re looking at is the Vitruvian desktop: the Deskbar in the top right corner and the file manager, Tracker. The Quick Tour walks through it.

Good to know

If the display, network or audio doesn’t come up on your hardware, ask in the Telegram chat or file a GitHub issue with what you see.

How to shut down?

Use Shutdown in the Deskbar menu. Ctrl+Alt+Del opens the Team Monitor, where you can kill an application that stopped responding.

If something goes wrong, the Troubleshooting section covers common problems.
