If your machine runs a mainstream Linux distribution, it will most likely run V.
Minimum
- x86-64, arm64 or riscv64 processor.
- 512 MB RAM.
- 4 GB disk space for a raw image installed on a drive. The compressed live ISO is about 1 GB to download, and it boots without installing.
Recommended
- 4 GB RAM. This is the amount the project tests and develops against.
- A USB drive or microSD card for writing the image, unless you’re using a VM.
- A disk to install to. DriveSetup can format it as ext4, XFS or Btrfs. Live images use SquashFS and boot from any supported media.
Hardware support
V runs on the Linux kernel, so your hardware works to the extent the kernel drivers do. If a device doesn’t work, report it on the GitHub issue tracker.
For single-board computers, see the boards site.
