Shortcuts in V use a Command key. On BeOS that key is Alt, in the Mac style. V defaults to Linux mode instead, with Command on Ctrl, so Ctrl + C, Ctrl + V and Ctrl + Q work as on other PC systems. The other modifiers move to make room:
| Physical key | Linux mode (default) | Classic mode |
|---|---|---|
Ctrl |
Command | Control |
Alt |
Control | Command |
Super (Windows key) |
Option | Option |
AltGr |
right Option | right Option |
To get the BeOS layout back, open Keymap in Preferences and click Switch shortcut keys to Classic mode. The same button switches back.
The shortcuts below are written for the default Linux mode. In Classic mode, swap Ctrl and Alt, except for Ctrl + Alt + Del and the console keys, which stay the same.
